Bundesliga 2010-11 week 5

Bundesliga Week 5 – Wednesday September 22, 2010.  The Bundesliga played the fifth round during midweek.  Here are some of the results:

Mainz 2-0 Koln

Mighty Mainz made it five wins in five tries.  It was an uneventful first half.  In the second half, Koln hit the crossbar.  Super sub Lewis Holtby, on loan from Schalke, scored both for Mainz, his first goals of the season.

Bayern 2-1 at Hoffenheim

Hoffenheim got on the scoreboard after only 37 seconds, and later in the game they also hit the post.  Bayern equalized thanks to a Franck Ribery setup, but he injured his ankle on the play and may be out for four weeks.

Schalke 2-1 Frieburg

After their worst start of a season in its history after a loss to bitter rivals Dortmund last week in Schalke, it was the first points of the season for Schalke in an unconvincing win.  Dutchman Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored the winner just before full time.

Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 Frankfurt

Frankfurt reinforce their reputation as last minute losers by giving up a 90th minute penalty for a goal and Leverkusen winner.  Greek international Theofanis Gekas scored for Frankfurt.

St Pauli 2-1 M’gladbach

The Kult club from the Red Light District of Hamburg picked up three valuable points.

Wolfsburg 3-1 Hamburg

Brazilian international Grafite had 2 goals for the Wolves.

Dortmund 5-0 Kaiserslautern

Polish international Robert Lewandowski scored one in this goal fest.

Hanover 4-1 Bremen

A big win for the team that was in the hunt for relegation last season, as the woes continue for Bremen since losing superb German international Mesut Ozil to Real Madrid.
